Details of Required Activities
1. Welcoming dinner, Sunday June 3- Arrive at Kirk and Louise Casselman home around 6 PM for picnic style dinner, meeting and conversation. Address is 1850 Cerros Colorados: take Hyde Park Rd. north of town to a large stone monument on the right marked “Los Cerros Colorados” turn right for one half mile to 1850 marker on the right. 995-1968. This is a required event.
2. Private tour of the School for Advanced Research, est. in 1907 as a center for the study of the archaeology and ethnology of the American Southwest. Since 1967, SAR has embraced a global perspective through programs to encourage advanced scholarship in anthropology and related social science disciplines. It offers an array of programs that expand our knowledge of human nature, cultural and creativity, including internships, residential fellowships and SAR Press. The Yale Club of New Mexico will pay the fee of $20 per student and we will request that all employers allow Bulldog interns to attend this important event. This is a required event.
3. (Tour of the Santa Fe Institute–tentative event.)
4. Farewell Dinner, Friday July 27 at 6:00 pm. Arrive at Molly and Fred Seibel home at 6:00 pm. Address is 1135 South Summit Drive: take Hyde Park Rd, turn on South Summit Drive. Call from guard station to be buzzed in (either dial 130 to ring home phone, or select name from alphabetical listing and call. This is a required event.
Suggested Optional & Independent Activities
1. Read the “Pasa Tiempo” Section every Friday in the Santa Fe New Mexican. It lists all activities and contains reviews on movies, music, art, theater, dance, opera – you name it. If it’s happening in Santa Fe, it’s in the Pasa.
2. Music on grounds of St Johns College Wednesday nights 6 PM to 8 PM starting June 6: “Music on the Hill.” Take a picnic dinner and sit on the grass. Go to the St. John’s College webpage for listing of events, parking instructions and directions.
3. Rodeo Santa Fe at Rodeo Grounds on Rodeo Road: June 20-23. Check paper for times and ticket prices. A glitzy rodeo with several out-of-town performers.
4. International Folk Art Market at the Folk Art Museum on Museum Hill: July 13-15. Check the Museum’s webpage for times, transportation options (including city bus schedules). This Market brings artists from around the world to demonstrate, display and sell their crafts and artwork. Lots of fun.
5. Rodeo Galisteo: July 14-15. Parade at 11 on Saturday, Rodeo at 1 pm both days. Food is available for purchase. A small town home-grown rodeo with many local competitors and special events.
