Bulldogs On The Lakes (BOTL) is a Summer Internship Program for Yale and Wesleyan Undergraduates. Located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, BOTL is branch of the Bulldogs Across America (BAA) Internships overseen by Student Career Services. 2010 will be our fourth year in the BAA Program and we are look forward to another great Summer hosting interns in interesting and rewarding jobs throughout the Twin Cities.

Summer in the Twin Cities
Most Minnesotans spend Summer outside at concerts, festivals, outdoor cafes, parks or lakes. Minneapolis and St. Paul have many bike trails that wind along the Mississippi River and connect with several large lakes in town. For students who may not be familiar with this type of Summer climate or in-town amenities, we encourage you to come to the Twin Cities. Part of our initial orientation will include an introduction to several of our more popular outdoor activities easily accessible to BOTL interns.

Students: Join us for a summer you won't forget. Apply  here .

International Students:  You will need to apply for permission from immigration to work off campus (Optional Practical Training) to engage in a BAA internship. OPT applications can take up to three months for immigration to process, so advance planning is required.  These applications must be submitted through the Office of International Students and Scholars. For full information on the OPT application process go to http://www.yale.edu/oiss/immigration/common/f1students/opt.html or contact monica.weeks@yale.edu

Employers: To submit a job description, select "Submit internship description" from the drop down menu above.

Program Overview

A Focus on Non-Profit Employment Opportunities
In the past, almost all of our interns were employed in non-profit or public service related position and we hope to find similar jobs in 2010. Our focus on non-profits stems from our belief that undergraduate education should include hands-on experience in this important sector of our society.

In addition to rewarding employment opportunities BOTL activities add significant value to our Summer internships.

  • These include a variety of events such as the Guthrie, the Twins, tours of local businesses (Medtronic, General Mills, Cummings), river and lake outings and alumni speakers.
  • We also promote alumni interactions for a more personalized connection and introduction to our area.
  • BOTL housing is selected to create a supportive community among our interns, leading to friendships that continue on upon returning to Yale.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Bulldogs concept, here is how it works:

  • BOTL locates potential employers.
  • BOTL then has the employers list jobs and the job description on the BOTL website.
  • Students apply to the jobs on the website. Employers then interview students and select a student for the internship position. (BOTL is not involved in the selection and hiring process.)
BOTL provides free housing for interns, arranges for fun events, promotes alumni intern interactions and generally oversees the program. BOTL raises money for funding the internship programs. For 2010, our goal is to host 20 interns.
