“The m entor aspect was great; gave a chance for people to interact with people as long as their mentor and they were committed. People would gain first hand knowledge of work and have a great person to talk to about general things with their mentor, which was very helpful… Michael Edessus was great in every way. He took me out to dinner at two very exquisite restaurants and to a Rockies Game (great seats too!). He gave me a copy of his book on investment strategies and through my interactions with him, I gained greater insight into the finance industry. He would tell me stories of his past and also give me advice and answer any questions I had. He was a really valuable mentor to me and I was glad to have that experience…(My job) It over exceeded my expectations. My job gave me meaningful work and I was put in an accountable position. I would work long hours, but that helped make the job a learning experience… I would have done this internship for free and so I cannot complain about what I received. However, I do believe that work conditions were significantly different for all interns (working hours, time off, etc.) and so in that respect, I feel that I was not fairly compensated relative to other interns as I was working 12 hour days while others were getting days off from employers, or working 5 hours a day and getting off early. I believe there has to be uniformity in the conditions so that everyone is treated the same… I remember at the beginning of the summer expressing my interest for baseball. Soon, I had tickets coming left, right and center for Rockies tickets. I got tickets for 7 games and the seats were amazing. As a Canadian, I never had an opportunity to see too many baseball games, and this summer, I got the chance to see some great teams like the Mets and Padres.” SL371834[1].JPG

"Being in the CLIMB program this summer has been an amazing experience. I have never worked at an actual job, and this was a great way to get acclimated to the "real world." As one of the interns mentioned at the final dinner, being a freshmen, it will be hard to find an internship as good as this one in the next few summers. While work could be both interesting and tedious, it was the experiences outside work that made this summer so memorable. I leave this summer, having bonded with students of all grade levels, and from all the different schools. I never thought it would be possible to get so comfortable and close with people I had met over the summer. In addition to just the hanging out we would do at the Inn, the planned activities have been wonderful. The rafting trip was so much fun, although a little cold, and the "camping" that followed was just as great. The numerous hikes have been fun and traveling around Colorado has been a great opportunity. I've had a chance to go to Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Red Rocks, all beautiful places. So, all in all, this summer has been amazing."

"The best part of this CLIMB internship was the people that I met, whether it was the people also partaking in the program, or the people that I met while doing my job.  One of the best experiences I had was with my job.  My boss and I went to go interview this old nurse who had worked at the hospital way back when, in the 1940s-1970s. When I say old, I mean OLD.  She was 96 years old, and she

was one of the biggest characters I've ever met in my life. When we walked into her house, it literally was like walking into the past.  After I said that to her, she said to me, "Honey, you have no idea. I was BORN a few months after the Titanic sank...."  From there, she launched into reminisces of her 96 year old life, which spanned the first world war, the second, all the wars after, and even up through the War with Iraq.  The only word that I could use to describe the hour long interview would be "amazing."  And that is the same word that I would use to describe what being a part of CLIMB this summer meant."

"I will always remember all of the people that I met in Denver . I made a bunch of really good friends in the program that I will definitely keep in touch with. My roommate Ross was a great person and I really enjoyed living next to him. All of the Yale students were fun and nice. It was a good group."
